She was dumped and our strays brought her to us. Too much hair for the streets we are taking her to the vet today

pacd OP We have a few long term ferals and strays in the area but this one was dumped according to a neighbor.
  • 04
She had a collar with a bell so we know she is a house. cat. We have a vet visit later today. If she has a chip they need to take her back. If not she is our newest member. I have
  • 05
already cut a clump of p out of her tail and a few clumps from her stomach
  • 06
Tina-Tuna If the cat has been dumped they obviously do not want it unless it's been stolen, making them take it back could make things worse for that poor cat :(
  • 07
djmermaidonthemic If the vet finds a chip that is registered they will attempt to contact the owner. Sometimes they don't even want kitty back.
  • 08
Love that the ferals brought her to you. "What should we do about this situation?" "Let's take her to nice food person!"

pacd OP Update** We have decided her name is MJ (we have a Spidey, Goose, and Batty all named by a kid who loves comics)
  • 10
MJ brought some extra friends with her so she will continue her quarantine for another 6 weeks pending meds.
  • 11
She was not chipped and is not fixed but tested positive for ringworm. We have been good about keeping her separate and cleaning hands and clothes for the last 24 hours since she

moved in to the extra bathroom. We are stopping to grab lysol and antifungal for us just in case.
  • 13
Still 100% worth it to make her life better

IrishknitCelticlace Your feral crew knew just what to do! I am amazed that you knew what to do and have the ability to make it happen at a moments notice. Thank you, I needed a breath of inspirational good this morning.
  • 15
pacd OP The ferals let us know their boundaries and thank us for food, water, and shelter. She had zero boundaries so we knew she was an indoor lost. Now we have to wait 6 weeks to snuggle but daily food and gloved petting and telling her she is safe and loved will be long but worth it

Ihavefluffycats There was a guy that posted here about his journey with ringworm in his new CDS cat. He bought little bodysuits for him to help keep the humans from catching it. They were the cutest d in things! He hated them of course, but he was just so adorable in them! I wish I could remember his name.

pacd OP Her fur was in bad shape, especially for a long hair. We have set up a whole protocol. Booties, alcol or lysol after leaving the room but before walking through the house, full body coverage of skin, daily cleaning every other day dump and clean of the litter box. He got her a

immunosuppressant so we are not taking any risks if we can avoid them. We visit and feed her 3-4 times a day and I added toys we can clean. She also has an old Ipad with nature videos on it

Ihavefluffycats Wow, the only thing you guys don't have are those clean suits the CSI people wear! I just lost my long haired boy Meow Meow last Oct. He HATED to be brushed. Even with 3 people holding him, we couldn't do it. We finally had to have him shaved to get rid of them. It

was awful and I felt so bad for him because by the time we needed to do this, he was deaf and blind so he had no idea what was going on and he didn't have his momma with him, who he trusted. The fact that this little girl lets you brush her is so great! Will make things much easier when she gets older.

You know, she looks like she's in a 5 star hotel with her set up. It's so cool! She even has room service! She is one lucky lady to have those strays and you to find and take care of her. I so hope you'll let us know when she finally joins the family and we can really see her in her best light. I really want to see her true floofy self.

pacd OP Her long hair is why we knew she was not made for the streets, and she LOVES being brushed and held for that matter. She is our first long hair besides my curly haired partner. I shave my head so styling her hair is a bonus for me. It took a few days but her hair is in great (although wirey and thin) shape. I cannot wait until the winter fuffening.

Loud-Bee6673 The CDS has many agents and many ways! Give those strays a treat tonight.
  • 30
PartsUnknown242 Amazing how the strays were able to bring you to her. They must've sensed something was amiss
  • 31
FeralSweater Look at those whiskers! The strays know who to trust
  • 32
pacd OP <3 She does but is no longer stray. She is our girl MJ
  • 33
Lupin Who So... The vet found no chip?
  • 34
    pacd OP Correct!!!
  • 35
LupinWho Oh thank goodness. I saw your update a few after I asked but thank you nonetheless.
  • 36
pacd OP Realistically if she was someone else's and was not dumped I would still be glad she went back home
  • 37
coolgran60 She's beautiful! I hope she spends the rest of her life in comfort and safety and being loved. We took in a male tabby who had been dumped.
  • 38
Probably by someone who couldn't move into a new place with a pet or couldn't accept kitty habits like clawing. a couch etc. You never know. I'm glad she was brought to you and hopefully has found her forever home
  • 39
DiveCat She's gorgeous. I am glad the strays brought her to you. I bet she fluffs out a lot more going by those ear tufts. When I adopted my cat she looked a lot like MJ - a less stressful home and great diet and she turned out to be very fluffy!
